Formula D New Jersey: A Test of Skill

  • July 1, 2015

After skipping Round 3 in Orlando, i was excited to be back on track for round 4. Wall Speedway is known for its carnage, tight tandems, and close battles. But this year at Wall there was not many crashes, which is a good thing! Due to impending bad weather Formula Drift pushed Saturdays schedule up 1 hour to try and beat the torrential rain that was on its way. The rain held off for the most part with some showers through out the day, but just enough to make the track slick and things interesting. Certain parts of the track were dry, and some parts were still wet and slick. The skills of the drivers were really put to the test. The conditions would set the men apart from the boys.Ken Gushi came out swinging again qualifying first for the second straight round. Gushi failed to make the podium for a third straight round after losing to Tuerck in a crazy Great 8 battle. Taking 3rd in Long Beach, 1st in Orlando, and 3rd in New Jersey Tuerck has a 1 point lead over Bakchis. Bakchis who has not done very well these past 2 rounds is still in the championship race with four other drivers all separated by 50 point or less. With only 3 rounds left this might be the closest Formula D championship we have seen. If Tuerck is going to win it, he is going to have to be on top of his game. Seems like every round so far Tuerck has been involved in either a crash or a questionable call. As we move forward lets see if he can hold off the best. Bakchis, Aasbø, Gushi, and Forsberg are all still in the hunt and right on the tail of Tuerck. Lets see what Round 6 has in store, it may have serious championship implications.
